The impressBox MCP server: run your screens from Claude and other AI assistants

The impressBox MCP server lets Claude and other MCP-compatible AI clients work with your digital signage network. On 24 September 2026 the production server has 114 tools.

What MCP is

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools. A signage platform with an MCP server can be operated from the AI assistant a team already uses, without a separate integration.

What the tools cover

• Devices and diagnostics: status, logs, screenshots, state and action history, reboot, display on and off, schedules, volume, remote keys, network, Wi-Fi and DHCP configuration, ping, traceroute, reachability and time-sync checks, updates and app installs, tags.
• Content and templates: uploads, remote URLs, YouTube, Power BI and Canva content, two-column layouts, HTML templates (create, edit code, edit parameters, duplicate), AI descriptions and title suggestions, previews, categories, date and time restrictions.
• Playlists and publishing: create and copy playlists, add and remove items, publish now or on a schedule, verify that screens picked up the publication, playlist statistics.
• Organization: accounts, search across accounts, user settings, access provisioning, trash and restore.

Safety

The connector is off by default. It works only after you configure your AI client with an API personal access token created in your impressBox account, and you can revoke access at any time by deleting the token. The server includes an ask_user tool, so the assistant asks you to confirm before sensitive actions. How data flows to your AI provider is described in section 12 of the privacy policy.
