Deploy impressBox on Samsung professional displays using URL Launcher
impressBox fully supports Samsung professional displays running Tizen OS. The installation is performed directly via the Samsung URL Launcher feature, meaning no APK file is needed. Samsung Tizen displays use URL Launcher to load the impressBox application directly from a secure web address, leveraging the official Samsung signage firmware support for maximum stability.
Installation Overview
Step 1: Network Setup
A stable internet connection is required for content updates. We strongly recommend a wired (LAN) connection for professional signage.
Menu Navigation
- Power on the display.
- Press MENU on the remote.
- Go to Network.
- Select Open Network Settings.
- Choose Wired (recommended) or Wireless.
- If your network requires static IP, select IP Settings and enter details manually.
Step 2: Time & Date Configuration
Critical Requirement
Incorrect system time may prevent secure HTTPS connections to impressBox servers, causing installation failures (SSL Handshake errors).
Menu Navigation
- Press MENU or RETURN to go back to the main menu.
- Go to System.
- Select Time.
- Choose Clock Set.
- Verify that the Date and Time are correct. If not, set them manually.
Step 3: Disable Power Saving
Signage screens are designed to run 24/7. Consumer power-saving features must be disabled to prevent the screen from turning off unexpectedly.
Disable Sleep Timer
System → Time → Sleep Timer
Disable Eco Solutions
System → Eco Solution
- • Energy Saving Mode: OFF
- • Eco Sensor: OFF
- • No Signal Power Off: OFF
- • Auto Power Off: OFF
Step 4: Activate URL Launcher
You need to tell the display to look for a web application instead of playing from HDMI or MagicInfo.
- Go to System menu.
- Select Play Via.
- Select URL Launcher from the dropdown list.
Note: Depending on your firmware version (SSSP 4, 5, 6, or 10), this option might be under "Home Menu" or named "Custom App".
Step 5: Install via URL Launcher
Installation Steps
- Press the HOME button on your remote.
- Select URL Launcher Settings or just select the URL Launcher icon.
- Select Install Web App.
- Enter one of the URLs provided on the right.
- Press Done/OK.
Success! The app will download and start automatically. You will see a QR code and a 6-digit connection code along with the TV serial number.

Try the URLs in this order. If the first one fails to load, try the next.
Connecting to impressBox
Final Step: Pair the Screen
With the 6-digit code displayed on your Samsung screen:
- 1Log in to your impressBox CMS Dashboard.
- 2Click "Add Screen".
- 3Enter the connection code.
- 4Assign content.
Pro Tip: After content starts playing, you can press the BLUE button on your remote to capture a proof-of-play photo confirmation.
Best Practices
Deployment
- Always use wired network connections for critical displays.
- Document the 6-digit codes and serial numbers if rolling out many screens at once.
- Lock remote control access (IR Lock) after installation to prevent tampering.
System
- Ensure Date & Time are correct before attempting URL setup.
- Verify "No Signal Power Off" is disabled.
- Update Samsung firmware to latest version if you encounter stability issues.
Troubleshooting
URL does not load / Installation Fails
Typically caused by network or time settings.
- Verify internet connection (try opening browser on TV).
- Check System Date & Time (critical for HTTPS).
- Try the fallback HTTP URL (http://samsung.impressbox.eu).
Screen goes black after a while
Power saving features are likely still active.
- Check System → Eco Solution again.
- Check System → Time → Sleep Timer.
HTTPS / SSL Errors
Certificate validation failed.
- The internal clock is likely wrong (e.g., set to 1970). Set correct date.
- Use the HTTP URL to bypass SSL check temporarily.
