Moving from MagicINFO

Bring your media, screens, playlists and schedules over to impressBox in five steps. The AI agent does the setup, and the screens switch over from MagicINFO itself, without a site visit.

You send us three things from your MagicINFO server: your media, your device list and screenshots of your playlists and schedules. The impressBox AI agent turns them into content, playlists, schedules and screen groups, and shows you a summary to approve before anything goes live. Then you switch the screens to impressBox from MagicINFO itself, a whole group at once.

You need a MagicINFO login that can see content, playlists, schedules and devices, and an impressBox account, which we create for you.

The five steps

Step 1: Zip your media

Download the files you play from MagicINFO and put them in one zip file, keeping the original file names.

How to do it

  1. In MagicINFO, open Content and download the files that are in use.
  2. On an on-premise server, your IT team can also copy the content folder straight from the server.
  3. Put all files in one folder and zip it. On Windows: right-click → Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder. On a Mac: right-click → Compress.

Keep the original file names: the agent uses them to match each file to your playlists and to read campaign dates.

Step 2: Export your device list

Export the MagicINFO device list to Excel, so your screen names and groups carry over to impressBox.

How to do it

  1. In MagicINFO, open Device.
  2. Select all devices.
  3. Export the list to Excel.

The list gives us your screen names and groups, so your cities, stores and zones are set up the same way in impressBox.

Step 3: Screenshot playlists and schedules

Take a screenshot of every playlist in use and of every schedule’s details, so the agent sees what plays, where and when.

How to do it

Playlists

Open each playlist that is in use and take a screenshot that shows every item with its name and duration. For a long playlist, scroll and take several.

Schedules

Open the details window of each schedule, showing the playlist, days, times, start and end dates and the screens or group it plays on.

The calendar view alone does not show repeats and end dates, so screenshot the details window. For content made in MagicINFO Author (LFD files), add a screenshot of how it looks on the screen.

Step 4: Upload and approve

Drop everything into the AI agent chat in your dashboard. The agent sets it up and shows you a summary; nothing goes live until you confirm.

How to do it

  1. Open the AI agent chat in your impressBox dashboard.
  2. Drop in the zip file, the Excel file and the screenshots.
  3. Write Migrate from MagicINFO and send.
  4. Check the summary the agent shows for each playlist and correct anything in plain words.

What you approve

For every playlist, the agent replies with a short summary like this one:

Spring promo

6 files, 10 seconds each · Monday to Friday, 08:00–21:00 · all Vilnius stores · until 31 May

Is this correct?

Reply yes, or say what is different. Where a screenshot is unclear, for example a cut-off file name, the agent asks instead of guessing. Nothing goes live until you confirm.

Step 5: Switch the screens from MagicINFO

Upload the impressBox player to MagicINFO once and publish it to a whole group of screens. After you connect one screen per site, the rest join on their own.

How to do it

  1. In your impressBox dashboard, open Downloads and download the latest impressPlayer for Samsung Tizen (a .wgt file).
  2. In MagicINFO, go to Software Update → Register & Publish and click Register.
  3. Choose the device type and model of your Samsung displays, name the software impressBox, select the .wgt file and click Save.
  4. Select the impressBox software and click Publish. Choose the screens by group or model, for example one store, and publish now or at a set time.
  5. The screens install the impressBox player and restart. Follow the progress under Software Update → Applied Status.

Each screen then shows a connection code. You only enter the code of the first screen at each site: the other screens on the same network see it and join your account on their own. The agent puts them into the groups from your device list, so they start playing the playlists you approved.

Once a screen runs impressBox, its MagicINFO connection is turned off and it is managed from impressBox only. So start with one store or a few screens, check them in impressBox, then switch the rest group by group, for example after closing time with a scheduled publish. Screens you have not switched keep running on MagicINFO. Menu names can differ slightly between MagicINFO versions.

What happens next

Once your screens are on impressBox, you run them from the dashboard, the AI agent chat or WhatsApp. Proof of play and screenshots confirm that every screen plays what it should, and the MagicINFO server can be switched off when the last group has moved.

This works for Samsung Tizen screens with URL Launcher. Older Orsay screens have no URL Launcher, so send us the models and we confirm how to install them. To set up a single screen by hand, see the Samsung Tizen setup guide. For Samsung’s end-of-life dates and your options, see moving off MagicINFO.

Good to know

Does MagicINFO have a single export for everything?

No. MagicINFO exports device lists and reports to Excel or PDF, and media files are downloaded from the content library, but playlists and schedules have no export file. That is why the guide asks for screenshots of them.

What happens to content made in MagicINFO Author?

MagicINFO Author layouts (LFD files) only play in MagicINFO. Send a screenshot of how each one looks on screen and the AI agent rebuilds it as an impressBox template.

Do our screens change while we prepare the move?

No. Everything is set up in impressBox first and you approve it before any screen changes. Then you switch the screens from MagicINFO, one group at a time (step 5), while the rest keep running on MagicINFO.

Do we have to enter a code on every screen?

No. Enter the connection code of one screen per site. New screens on the same network as screens already in your account are added to it automatically.

Our media library is very large. Can we still upload it in the chat?

For a library of more than a few gigabytes, contact us and we send you an upload link instead. The rest of the steps stay the same.

Ready to move?

Tell us how many Samsung screens you have and we set up your impressBox account for the migration.
